Ocean's Love to Ireland

#OceansLovetoIreland In this series of posts, I play off of (and pay homage to) the Seamus Heaney poem, “Ocean’s Love to Ireland.” I explore the wildness of the Wild Atlantic Way, the rewilding of the land, its people and its mythology. I’m sparked by the urgency and agency of the Irish, easy to catch, hard to hold, as captured in his last line, “She fades from their somnolent clasp/Into ringlet-breath and dew,/The ground possessed and repossessed.”

Ms. Persephone

Muriel Rukeyser once famously said, "What would happen if one woman told the truth about her life? The world would split open.” Ms. Persephone is a newsletter from the life of a fully expressed woman person who is both ingenue and oracle, tough and tender. Includes MS. PERSEPHONE’S KITCHEN | Stories, songs and soul-infused food from the kitchen of Ms. Persephone by the author of Searching for Persephone.

Stories + Songs

For people who write stories that sound like songs, and people who write songs that are stories. The Stories & Songs Vision Carolyn Flynn and Karen Leslie’s long-cherished vision: To host a writing retreat offering generative workshops in the art of Storytelling and Songwriting, and where the setting is exceptional. We offer a free monthly zoom with pristine writing time, plus writing retreats with workshops featuring individual feedback and cross-genre study that examines the shared elements between stories and songs: musicality, lyricism, rhyming action, compression, voice, recurring motifs, “flashbulb” images, co-writing, patterns, arc, and repetition. Together with Grammy-nominated hit songwriter Clay Mills (Songwriter Track), they mapped out a dive deep into creativity, craft, and process. This year, we will retreat to Montana’s rolling hills at the convergence of two pools fed by natural geothermal hot springs! Sept. 22-26, 2025
